Tile & Error American Mah Jongg practice

The practice card

This is our own card, made for practice. At the table you use the card you own; the skills carry over. A pair is two alike, a pung three, a kong four, a quint five. Soap is the white dragon. Jokers can fill any pung, kong or quint, never a pair.

Ladder in One Suit

Four numbers in a row, all one suit: pung, kong, pung, kong.

Step Across Suits

One to five in a row, changing suit each step: pair, pung, kong, pung, pair.

Flowers then Ladder

A pair of Flowers, then three kongs of one, two, three in one suit.

Same Number, Three Suits

The same number in all three suits, pung, kong, pung, with a kong of Flowers.

Evens Across

Even numbers only: pair, pung, pung, kong, pair, across all three suits.

Odds in Two Suits

Odd numbers climbing one to nine: pair, pung, kong in one suit, then pung, pair in another.

All Four Winds

Every wind: kongs of North and East, pungs of South and West.

Three Dragons and Flowers

A kong of Red Dragons, pungs of Green Dragons and Soaps, and a kong of Flowers.

Five Fives

Needs at least one Joker: only four 5 Bams exist

Fives in every suit: a quint (so at least one Joker), a kong, a pair, plus a pung of Flowers. Jokers may fill any pung, kong or quint, never the pair.

Seven Pairs, Mostly Odd

Seven pairs: the odd numbers in one suit and two even pairs in another. No Jokers in pairs.
